The Irish Language

Hey Guys,

It has come to my attention that some of you are not from Ireland, never did I expect to reach outside of Ireland but some of you appear to be (correct me if I'm wrong) from places like America, Germany and Hungary. It immediately sprang into my mind that you then do not know the Irish language (heck, some Irish don't even know it). Well I'm going to write a bit in Irish then translate it for you!!

Dia daoibh,
Conas atá sibh? Táimse go maith. Táim ag t-snúth le mo breithlá amárach agus ar an Sathairn beidh sé breithlá mo dhaid! Tá conaí orm i Éire. Beidh mé ceithre bliain déag d'aois amárach! Is fearr liom a beith ag leamh.

Hello (plural),
How are you (plural)? I'm good. I'm looking forward to my birthday tomorrow and on Saturday it's my dad's birthday. I live in Ireland. I will be fourteen years old tomorrow. I  love to be reading.

That is a rough translation of what I wrote above in Irish. Try saying that to your families, bet they'll be surprised!

P.S: My name is Irish but I've no idea what it means!!

I gots Kittens!

Hello Everybody,

Excuse my bad grammar in the title but it illustrates the excitement I feel. The kittens are so cute and they slept nearly all day!! I will upload a picture of them later or tomorrow, I'll do it eventually. I am currently reading Gone by Michael Grant. So far as I have gotten, it is a gripping read, pulling you into a story filled with peril and confusion. The peril is the talking coyotes, flying snakes and cats, Caine and his lackeys taking control and the (still to me) mysterious 'Darkness'. The confusion is why? Why did this happen? Why here? Why now? Why fifteen? What caused the mutant powers? Why did Sam and Caines' mom give up just Caine? It is a very compelling and interesting read, one of the best I've read this year and that's competing with City of Fallen Angels, Strange Angels, Need, The Hunger Games and Clockwork Angel, which are all incredible books written by amazing authors. Gone gives me a burning desire to read more and find out not just what happens to the hero but why does it happen, why is Sam the catalyst that sparked this 'war'?

Bye!

Sorry!!

Hey Everybody,

I'm so sorry that I haven't posted in ages!! I just kinda, well, um.... I forgot. I'm THE biggest scatter-brain ever!!! I swear, if my head wasn't screwed on, I would be asking you to look in the bottom of my wardrobe for it! Days are nice though, I'm getting TWO KITTENS on Monday (gray+ginger(Oscar(I love putting brackets in brackets in brackets, um now where was I? Oh yes))), I got my report a few days ago plus my piano result (school: 10 A's + 3 B's, Piano 90%= Distinction) and it is my birthday on Friday and my dad's birthday on Saturday plus I had my showcase today. My showcase was insane, our main actress was sick and the person playing a director in the show was gone and our killer missed the bus. The killer showed up a little bit before the show but I had to fill in for the director!! I was pretending to check the scenery on stage and nearly knocked over this great big black piece of wood acting as a divider between backstage and the stage! It was alright, our drama teacher said to us just before we went out ' I love you all and you're brilliant to work with but you're all off your heads!'. I guess he was a bit right, we were off our heads, there was no way we got possibly pull it off without some incidents. Finally my birthday, yes people get excited over there birthdays but not me, it's just any other day really, I hate big fuss and although a surprise party is nice for someone else, I would most likely sit there quietly then later ask what the hell were you thinking. I'm hoping for maybe a book and a cookie from Subway. Yum!

Well ta-ta for now,

A Nice, LONG walk

Hey Everybody,

Today me and my friend went for a walk with my friend's dog. Her dog is small and not used to long walks but we went to a sort of park with a river on one side and a canal on the other with the walkway in the middle. We went in and each bridge is a checkpoint. We started walking and reached the checkpoint that we left at before but I said let's go on further that there's probably another checkpoint in a while. That was after 20 minutes of walking. We kept walking and it cleared up of trees and it was all sunny and pretty with dogs running and we were walking along a path next to the river, off the main path. After half an hour I got worried. I asked a passer-by how far to the next checkpoint and she said "Oh about 20 minutes and there are some ruins, it's very beautiful but it's about 2 kilometres to the next town". Now this was of no use to me because of have no sense of distance/time. We kept walking and it started raining. Raining. We were soaked. Not to mention the poor dog. I then got a call from my sister saying that it was time for dinner and I was a couple miles from home and no clue where exactly where i was. My mum and dad had a fit!! My dad drove  to find us asking for directions. I was almost in tears because I was afraid he wouldn't be able to find us and I was constantly apologising to my friend for getting us lost. We finally got to another checkpoint. my dad found us and I barely got into trouble. We ended up walking about 3.5 miles. How is that for long?? I was wet, thirsty, hungry and cold also sore.

Bye!

Fathers' Day

Went shopping with my sisters today to get a fathers' day present. My dad is so hard to shop for and I'm guessing most dads are hard to shop for, I mean they don't want clothes, CD's, books, money, vouchers or barely any DVDs!! Why not? What is wrong with all these things? Seriously, there has to be something they want besides chocolate!! We ended up getting.. Well maybe I shouldn't say just in case my dad reads this. He normally doesn't but he might think that I would have posted what we got, OH I'M ON TO YOU DAD!! He will not know until Sunday! It's awkward because it's fathers' day on Sunday but his birthday is on the 2nd of July, the day after mine! So we have to find TWO presents for him in about 3 weeks! I'm not a tight purse, it's just we won't be able find two things that he will even remotely like! Uggghhhhhhh!! Bye, I have to go and worry that I didn't get the right thing for him.

12 Days Later

It's been 12 days since I got off school. My exam room was a room that everybody seemed to hate, I hated it too. It's strange how when you're in a classroom you hate with people you're used to, like they're your school family, you learn to love that room. It becomes the safe place amongst the chatter, the noise, the "I'm sure I failed that exam!!" and the high-pitched screaming and laughing that filled the corridors, the canteen and almost everywhere. You could just shut the door to your classroom and there were people studying and people chatting but you were used to working with that chatter. Sometimes the wrong place can be the best place because you all have to get used to it.
