The Hunger Games Movie!

Hey guys!!

I SAW THE HUGER GAMES LAST NIGHT. It was so awesome!!!! All HG fans should see this! It was seriously like the best book to film adaptation I have ever seen!! And Josh Hutcherson was, as was expected, brilliant as Peeta but Jennifer Lawrence outshined him as Katniss! She was the Katniss I imagined! Strong and tough but still cared for Prim, Gale, Peeta and Rue. The scene with Rue was so sad!!! Prim was great too! When Katniss and Peeta kissed they went back to District 12 and showed Gale watching it and the entire cinema just went "Oooooooooooooooohh!!" and then we all laughed! It was a great experience! It was as if everyone in the cinema was connected and we were one person! The cheers when it started after sitting through all the ads had the cinema workers laughing! \they only changed two things and one wasn't significant but the other was the ending and that bugged me a little! but only a little! It was that they left it a bit vague whereas the book was definite!

Great night! Really enjoyed it! Go see it now, HG fans!!

Review: Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

Title: Hex Hall
Author: Rachel Hawkins
Page Number (in UK cover version) : 323
Series: Hecate #1
UK Publisher: Simon and Schuster UK Ltd.
Published: 2nd of March 2010
Format: Paperback
Source: Library + Recommended by Goodreads
Rating: 3/5
Cover:

Blurb (from Goodreads):
Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.
By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.
As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

Thoughts:
At first when this book came into my hands I thought, "What is wrong with the cover?! Oh, stupid UK version!" I set out to read it with a bad attitude towards it and it surprised me. The beginning of this book was very "Now, what's going on here?"  This book was not good in the beginning, I didn't like it. Sophie was a pain in the neck and I could almost hear her snarky voice and it gave me a headache! Archer I liked at first because I was thinking "Finally! Someone who can probably shut her up!! He's gotta be the villain!" Then things got better, the history of the Prodigium was interesting enough and had me a bit interested.
Then it got worse and it was named Elodie and Archer. Oh God, not another "less beautiful girl but who secretly might be the saviour or have superpowers steals the hot boyfriend of bitchy beautiful girl!!" minus the saviour/superpower part but seriously?!? My headache was back. I liked Jenna, a pink-loving vampire? Now that's original!! (Hint: There actually wasn't any sarcasm in that sentence!!) She was funny but wasn't Sophie's sidekick or anything either. It was different. She was the only vampire, thank God! Sorry but I'm a little sick of vampires at the moment!
The last 'bout 70 pages were great though! Up until now it was 1.5 or 2 stars. Now it was 3 or possibly 3.5!! Since it is the ending of the novel I can't reveal much without spoiling the ending but just it went up a star and a half! That tells you how much better it gets!! Sophie is no longer quite so annoying and the other characters, weeelllllll let's just say there are some interesting developments.....

That's about it!

In My Mailbox #2 : Recap

Hello humans,

I am kind of starting a new meme type thing and it's to do with In My Mailbox which is hosted by The Story Siren. The one thing I don't like about the In My Mailbox posts is that, with any blogger, you don't find out how they got on with those books unless they do a review and they can't do that with every book! They'd have no time to read! So I propose that on Saturdays, the day before the new In My Mailbox goes up, bloggers put up recaps on how the reading went that week! This is mine for last week!

Blood Ties by Gabriella Poole (Darke Academy #2)

Read it!! About 3/3.5 stars! Pretty good but not great! Would recommend the series though!

Dead Beautiful by Yvonne Wood

Oh God this book annoyed me! 1/1.5 stars! It was sounding like a Twilight copy until

******SPOILER****** found out Dante was a soul sucking zombie and I have nothing against zombies but just zombies aren't necessarily the best supernatural creature to make a girl swoon and Renée pretty much acted as though nothing happened and then, I could see it coming, she had his soul and only one could live. The ending also left me in a way that I was thinking "Ok so- um no wait- THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!! What the hell?? Not a cliffhanger but it felt like there were no loose ends but if that was the end and it was a standalone then it was still really bad. But if it was a series then how could you continue????********************* END SPOILER!

Sorry for the rant!

Need more views and followers!!

Hey everybody!!

This blog has grown considerably in the last month or so, nearly doubling in monthly views and tripling in followers but I would like to let everybody know that once I get to 5000 total views (now on 1261) or get 50 followers there will be a giveaway!! So let everybody know and spread the word!!!!! Contest will be open internationally so it doesn't matter where you're from! I know how annoying it is when it is "UK only" or "USA only"!! I would really love to have more followers and to generally influence more people! Thanks for the increase guys!! I really appreciate it!! I love you guys and girls!!

Review: Delirium by Lauren Oliver

Title: Delirium
Author: Lauren Oliver
Publisher: UK: Hodder & Stoughton
Pages: 393  (of the actual story, there are extras at the back)
Series: Delirium #1 (Pandemonium #2)

Blurb: (From Goodreads)

Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love -- the deliria -- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

I really loved this book. It wasn't particularly fast-paced or had a lot of action but, damn, the setting and the plot were good!! Lauren really wrote the setting very well and slowly revealed the horrors of the society that Lena was in. It is scary in a way that's not, "monsters jumping out everywhere!!" but in, "these people are not people, they would do unthinkable things if they were told to. They are basically herds of cattle (wink, wink for those who've read it!!). "

I really liked Lena, she reminded me a bit of myself, knowing she should do the right thing and partially wanting to do the right thing but the wanting the wrong thing wholly. One thing that bugged me was the UK cover because the author went to so much trouble describing Lena and especially her eyes and then they use a model that looks absolutely nothing like her!! Look at the eyes!! Lena did surprise me and I loved her in the evaluation. I knew it was wrong when she said the word, "Grey" but then her explanation made me wonder how I'd never noticed it before.

Alex. Just Alex. He sounds like every sane girl's dream (including mine despite the fact that I'm unsane, no  , wait, insane). One thing I would have liked from him would be a bit more humour. That is the one thing. I'm a Jace Wayland/Herondale/Lightwood/Morgenstern girl myself, ooh and a Daemon Black kinda girl so I like quite a lot of humour and sarcasm and Alex just needed a little bit more. He was gorgeous, in my mind, of course!!

Hana, I loved Hana. Even if I was disappointed in her near the end I still loved her. I loved her spirit and how she acted, like she didn't have a care in the world and never would. I'm really looking forward to reading Hana too. That's all, I think,  but overall Delirium would be a 4.5 or 5 star book. Absolutely brilliant. I hated the ending though. In a, it's such a cliffhanger and why does that have to happen????, way but still brilliant.
